Girlfriends
I think it’s because Thanksgiving is in a few days, but I’m feeling extra thankful this week. I’m thankful for my husband, babies, and so many other things in my life, but today I wanted to write about how thankful I am for the amazing women in my life.
I have always been blessed with great female figures to surround myself with, but it wasn’t until I became an adult and had children that I realized the great importance of having a strong group of females around. There is no substitute for a girl’s night out (or in) with friends that are in the same space in life, where you can just be yourself and feel seen and appreciated. Or, let’s be honest, complain or vent about things that aren’t going right. As a mom, I feel spread thin, tired, and like I can’t keep up a lot of the time. I love this job and feel so fulfilled in it, but also exhausted. Even if you aren’t a momma, as women we tend to feel the need to nurture and take care of those around us, sometimes neglecting ourselves. I see you!!
As we age, it’s harder to meet people. We don’t have a school classroom where we can spend time with the same people every day, and we ALWAYS fill our schedules to the max, making it extremely hard to socialize. I encourage you to make that time. Put yourself out there and, if you have something nice to say, SAY IT! You never know where it can lead. Find your tribe and lean on them hard! Whether it’s sitting with a friend (or a few) watching the chaos of your hundred children running around just so you have a little company (even though you can barely finish a sentence or thought), or planning a girl’s get away trip where you can truly unwind, Do it! Make the time, invest in your relationships, and tell the people who are important to you that you value them and their time.
I just wanted to say thank you to my mom, mother in-law, sisters and sister in-law, to my neighborhood crew, gym besties (past and current gym), my mommy friends I have met from the kid’s school, my childhood bestie (who was crucial in my decision to start my blog), and all of my friends I have made through this platform. This blog thing is new for me, and you have all made it so fun and I’m excited to continue and to see where it goes. Thank you for reading and following along so far and for all of the encouragement I have received over this last month. It feels so good to be a part of such an amazing community who supports and uplifts one another. Let’s keep it going!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
