Packing Tips

The Dukes are heading to Disney TODAY!!!! We are going on our first big family trip to Disney World to celebrate my little Emmitt turning 6 years old!!! I thought this occasion would be a perfect time to share a couple packing tips for my “Tip Tuesday.”

I am definitely not the most organized person, but having some sort of order settles my crazy mom brain. When it comes to getting my family ready for any type of trip, so much falls on me(mommy) to remember. Rip (my husband) is a master un-packer and I know I am blessed for that (he literally unloads the car immediately upon our arrival home and starts laundry within the hour!), but he’s not as much help on the front end, ha! I usually start making my lists days in advance (because I love checking off tasks and I would completely forget everything if I didn’t) and still end up running around the house until midnight the night before a trip settling loose ends. I am NOT a model packer, I always pack too much because I would much rather have too much rather than too little, and still forget things (even though they were most likely on a list somewhere). I do, however, have a few items to share that I started using over the last couple of years that have seriously helped my crew with packing.

1.       Expandable Makeup Bag . I love this thing SO much! I use it every time we travel and weekly when I get ready at the gym. I have also gifted them several times to girlfriends as well. I can easily fit all of my makeup in this little baby and when its time to get ready it opens up completely so I can see everything in the bag without taking all of my products out. when I’m done, I easily use the drawstring to close it back up again. (Note: The website I ordered from and linked here ships from overseas and takes a while. Keep that in mind if you decide to order.)

2.       Packing cubes. We all have our own set. Mine are the white packing cubes, Rip uses the gray cubes, and the kids(my favs) came in a set of 6. Emmitt’s clothes are in the purple and Dash’s stuff goes in the blue. They don’t look very big but they really do hold a lot and keep us more organized while away.

3.     Travel Laundry Bags: Gray and Black . These bags are so small and convenient and help us stay tidier while on vacay. I have one bag for Rip and I and then the kids’ dirties go in the other. We wash this kids’ clothes separately from ours at home, so this makes unpacking and getting laundry sorted a little easier when we get back.

4. Portable Steamer . This little steamer is so great! It heats up fast, folds up for easy travel and can also be used horizontally like a traditional iron.

I hope you found this helpful. Let me know your favorite packing tips!
